Gigs Gigs Gigs is a brand new feature where we catch up with the bands and talk about the one thing we're all missing most: Gigs! Check out what some of our favourite artists have to tell us about their three favourite venues which they can't wait to play again after lockdown!

This week we spoke to Hartlepool's indie-pop outfit Mt. Misery. One of the most promising bands coming out of the North-East right now, their brand of chilled out pop should be heard by everyone, and we wanted to know where they will be spreading that sound next:
The Georgian Theatre, Stockton
We first played the Georgian in September last year, supporting Plastic Mermaids. The Georgian can hold a fair few people and it was a busy evening, which made for a fairly lively atmosphere. Playing on a big stage to a larger, attentive audience isn’t always the case for us, so it was really nice to have that experience. Plus, that night we played two songs with Dressed Like Wolves, who are one of our favourite bands around!
Bobik’s, Newcastle upon Tyne
Bobik’s is up on the first floor of the Punch Bowl Hotel In Jesmond, and is probably one of the best looking venues in the north east. The Punch Bowl is 150 years old and the venue is actually what was once the ballroom. The first time we played there wasn’t actually as Mt. Misery, but as the backing band for our friend Micah Erenberg, who was over from Canada touring the UK. We have really fond memories of that show, looking forward to being there again!
Independent, Sunderland
We managed to squeeze in our first Independent gig (which was also our first time playing in Sunderland, and the last ‘proper’ gig we played) about a week before lockdown started, which obviously put the brakes on live entertainment. Everyone at Independent was really welcoming and friendly, the venue itself was great, and Martha Hill and Faye Fantarrow both played brilliant sets. We’re excited to get back there when things start up again (which is hopefully in the not too distant future).

Adding to their ever growing quality backlog Mt. Misery release their new single 'I Was Wrong' on Friday 14th August. Kicking off with an acoustic opening the track then kicks in to their usual indie-pop style with a catchy chorus and the ever-present luscious sounding drums of Lewis Flower. If this song isn't stuck in your head for days after listening then I don't think you're doing it right. An easy way to help out independent artists is by pre-saving their music, you can pre-save this new track here and listen as soon as it's released on Friday!
