Gigs Gigs Gigs is a brand new feature where we catch up with the bands and talk about the one thing we're all missing most: Gigs! Check out what some of our favourite artists have to tell us about their three favourite venues which they can't wait to play again after lockdown!

This week we caught up with Newcastle based art-rock outfit Cat Ryan. A fairly new name on the scene, yet making waves. Described by 'Indietronica' as "paving a way for a new era of dreamy indie-pop" we know that Cat Ryan will go far, but we wanted to know where they're going to play along the way. Find out what they had to say below:
The Cluny, Newcastle
We’ve played a few venues in Newcastle, and we have a list of places we’d like to play at some point – one of those is the prestigious Cluny. I guess that either Cluny 1 or Cluny 2 would count, but ideally it would be great to play both; supporting a bigger touring artist would be incredible.
Little Buildings, Newcastle
Our manager, Jay of Pillar Artists, speaks very highly of Little Buildings and the team that work there. We’ve heard great things about both the new venue and the original place, and it feels like it’s a right of passage to play there. Knowing that it’s an intimate, independent venue is very appealing too, knowing that you’re playing there for a team and audience that are involved for the right reasons; supporting grassroots musicians.
Cobalt Studios, Newcastle
We played this venue in February and it was incredible. It’s an independent, not-for-profit community interest group, so it’s really cool to play somewhere that is so supportive and passionate about the creative arts – operating for art instead of pursuing profits. The stage, lights and whole room is amazing and the sound was brilliant; it has a lot of character.
Cat Ryan release their second single of 2020, 'Blessed Through The TV', later this month. With sound definitely less-main stream than their first release of the year, the band return with another cool track full of alternate percussion and unusual instrument sounds. The vocal lines and catchy hooks we've become accustom to are still very present in this track providing an easy listening yet thought provoking track, through both the lyrical content and clever use of instrumentation. The new single is available for pre-save before it's release on 30th June. Doing this can really help the band as it alerts Spotify and helps their track be pushed to more people.
