Gigs Gigs Gigs is a brand new feature where we catch up with the bands and talk about the one thing we're all missing most: Gigs! Check out what some of our favourite artists have to tell us about their three favourite venues which they can't wait to play again after lockdown!

This week we spoke to new-wave / indietronica outfit Bohemian Machines. Despite not playing any shows, so far, with this new project they're heavily cemented in the music scene, so we wanted to know, as soon as they're allowed, where will we be seeing Bohemian Machines playing.
Head of Steam - Newcastle
The first place I’m looking forward to playing is downstairs in the Head of Steam; for so many reasons. I’ve never not enjoyed a gig in there regardless of whether I’ve been playing or watching. That low stage and low ceilings makes you feel closer to the audience so it’s intimate but raucous, and gives you that real underground, house-party vibe that I think every musician loves to be a part of. It’s sometimes easy to take venues like that for granted but with everything going on in the world, going back to somewhere familiar will be more enjoyable and rewarding than ever.
This is Tomorrow - Newcastle
On the other end of things are festivals. I remember the first time I set foot on the site at my first T in the Park years ago, I fell in love with everything festivals were about. Playing festivals a few years later took that love that to another level. This Is Tomorrow in Newcastle was such an amazing spectacle for the North East in 2019 with so many great artists playing across multiple stages on multiple days. To be a part of that with this band would be brilliant. Festivals are a different challenge when you’re performing as there’s people watching who aren’t necessarily there to see you. There’s a real thrill at taking your chance to entertain them and show them everything you’ve spent months working on. Plus it’s always great to think a whole new group of people are hearing your music for the first time, especially whilst dancing around in the sun in Exhibition Park!
C 'mon Everybody - New York
Given that some of our biggest influences come out of that New York Indietronica scene of the 70s & 80s, it would be incredible to take ourselves into that environment at some point. Everybody thinks of the big venues with somewhere like New York but the smaller venues house some of the best, most authentic music you could find. There’s a great small venue in Brooklyn called C’mon Everybody which is a fairly unassuming, unpretentious bar, but houses a great gig space as well. You get about 100 people in there and there’s often multiple shows a day. When the likes of Nancy Whang and Al Doyle (LCD Soundsystem) have played there you know it’s going to be a special gig.
Kicking things off with their debut single 'Socials Skills' this brand new band are already gaining a lot of media interest. The track shows us exactly what Bohemian Machines are about, encompassing interesting uses of percussion with big synth riffs and catchy hooks. Certainly intriguing and certainly a class track, I can't wait to see this track performed live.
